Jason Kouchak
The opening ceremony will include a musical performance by Jason Kouchak, an acclaimed classical pianist in both Europe and Asia, who has enjoyed regular guest appearances with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and recorded three music albums at Abbey Road Studios.
While music is his first love he has always enjoyed playing chess and has performed at many chess events worldwide. In 2010, he created a concept promoting and connecting music and chess through education and entertainment. These performances have included a classical ballet at the British Museum in London, a chess choir in New York and a classical piano concert at Norway Chess. He is also an Ambassador for chess at Judit Polgar’s chess festival.
Jason will be performing two songs: his own classical composition Across the Water, and Anthem from the musical Chess.
